Grove Road, Merrow, Guildford, Surrey GU1 2HL https://www.guildfordgolfclub.co.uk/
Founded in 1886 by Colonel W Bannatyne, Major W Pontifex and Mr E L Hooper, Guildford Golf Club is the oldest Club in Surrey! Originally six holes, the course was extended to eighteen holes in 1901 and a new Clubhouse was built on the present site.
Situated on Merrow Downs in an area of outstanding natural beauty, Guildford Golf Club is a traditional downland course and offers a challenging round that plays longer than its yardage suggests! The views from the course are exceptional and include Guildford Cathedral, the Wembley Arch and the City of London, as well as panoramic views of the Surrey countryside from all holes on the course.
No two holes are the same at Guildford with many tough holes having to be navigated to have a successful round. Key holes to look out for is the tough par 4, 6th hole. The stunning par 5, 8th which plays steeply downhill with the Surrey countryside beneath you. Finally there is the signature par 4, 17th. An elevated tee shot into the valley below and then up the other side of the valley to a two tier postage stamp green. A stunning, but tough hole to have at the end of your round.
