Hankley Common Golf Club, The Clubhouse, Tilford, Farnham, Surrey GU10 2DD
In November 2017, the Society played Adrian Blows’ Captain’s Day at Hankley Common. The event was thought by many to be one of the best events that the Society had played. In years gone by, the Society would play an Inter-Society Day at Princes Golf Club at Sandwich in January and it was proposed that the Committee look at bringing back a “top” winter course and play this as a stand-alone day, i.e. not part of the President’s Trophy.
HELLO HANKLEY
Rated 5th best course in Surrey and 23rd in England. Hankley Common Golf Club was first opened for play over nine holes in 1897. In 1922 James Braid advised on the addition of a further nine holes. Bobby Locke described the course as the closest resemblance to a seaside links and the famous course architect, Charles Lawrie, once described the course as " one of the best inland layouts in Britain ". The 7th hole is looked upon as being one of the finest par 3s in the country and the magnificent 18th a superb but challenging finishing hole.
